Two children have allegedly been approached by a woman in the playground of a primary school in Mortlake.

The incident is reported to have happened in Thomson House Primary School in Vernon Road on April 18.

Officers say the children were with other adults including staff at the time of the incident.

It was reported there was no physical contact between the kids and the woman however those present were concerned by her behaviour.

The woman then left the area and enquiries were undertaken by police to locate her.

On April 20, the woman was identified where she was detained and placed into the care of medical professionals.

A police investigation into the circumstances of the incident remains ongoing.

Wandsworth Police tweeted on X (@MPSWandsworth) formally known as Twitter: “On 18th April police were called to Thomson House Primary School after a woman was reported to have approached and spoken to two children in the playground area.

“The children were with other adults including staff at the time of the incident.

“While it was reported there was no physical contact between the children and the woman, those present were understandably concerned by the woman's behaviour.

“The woman then left the area and enquiries were undertaken by police to locate her.

“On 20th April the woman was identified - she was detained and placed into the care of medical professionals where she has remained since.

“The police investigation into the circumstances remains ongoing and we urge people to be mindful of publishing and distributing false information on social media apps.
