A former petrol station in Surbiton is to be demolished next month following an application by property developer Indigo Scott.
Demolition of the old Esso garage in Brighton Road, which also used to be Total, is set to begin on Thursday, November 6.
The station was vacated last month after being sold by then-owners Rontec, who at the time declined to reveal to whom it had been sold.
There are five petrol tanks below ground, filled with water, according to contractors' documents filed to Kingston Council.
They will also be removed and surrounding soil tested for contamination.
The forecourt will be broken up and reused.
Since the garage closed last month, rumours have circulated among neighbouring business owners that the site will be developed into flats.
