Police are repeating their appeal for information about the death of a 23-year-old Esher waiter found dead in the Thames last month.

Bishal Gurung's body was pulled from the Thames near Blackfriars Bridge on Saturday, April 26, nine days after he was reported missing by his family.

Mr Gurung, who was living in High Street, Esher, after arriving from Nepal last year, was last seen alive celebrating the Nepalese New Year in central London on April 13.

A special postmortem examination carried out at St Pancras Mortuary gave his cause of death as immersion in water.

Detective Chief Inspector Howard Groves said police were treating Mr Gurung's death as suspicious and appealed for witnesses or anyone who can help them with their inquiries into the events that led up to it.

Mr Gurung spent the night at the Yacht Club, Temple Pier, between Waterloo and Blackfriars Bridge on the night of Saturday, April 12, and into the early hours of the next day.

He had been celebrating Nepalese New Year with two friends aboard the boat permanently moored at Temple Pier.

Mr Gurung is described as 5ft 8in tall, medium build, short straight black hair, brown eyes and clean shaven.

He was wearing a waist-length dark blue or black jacket, black Converse trainers, blue jeans and a black long-sleeved t-shirt with the sun over a mountain motif.

Anyone with information should phone police on 020 8247 7821 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
