Education centre turns 10

2:31pm Friday 2nd May 2008

AFTER-SCHOOL tuition provider, the Kip McGrath Education Centre in Bexleyheath, celebrated its 10th birthday with a visit from MP David Evennett.

The centre, which provides maths and English classes for children between pre-school age and 16, has helped more than 1,500 young people develop vital skills to boost their confidence.

The celebration, which gave people a chance to see how the educational programmes work, took place at the centre, where children and parents enjoyed a quiz, a free prize draw and refreshments.

Pupils from past and present enjoyed the party atmosphere while Mr Evennett marked the occasion by cutting the birthday cake, which had been specially made for the big day by one of the teachers at the centre.

After a tour of the building, the MP, who lives very close to the centre, chatted to children, parents and master franchisees Jan and Ray Jury.

Centre manager Veronica Garner said: "Mr Evennett described our centre as "buzzing" whenever he has walked past.

"I was extremely pleased with the entire party and, most importantly, the children enjoyed themselves as well."
