SHOPPERS at The Mall in Bexleyheath were given a treat last week, when students from Bexley College offered them a bit of pampering, all in aid of a good cause.
The hairdressing and beauty therapy students demonstrated the skills they have gained at the college in the Central Square of the shopping centre, offering treatments to the public with donations going to Mencap, the charity for people with learning disabilities.
The event also showcased the hair and beauty courses on offer at Bexley College from September.
More charity contributions have been given for treatments offered at the college's Bodyworks Salon at the Tower Road Campus. So far £400 has been raised.
Curriculum manager for hair and beauty, Caroline Almond, said: "The learners are working through their assignments while they are here, including learning first-hand how to deal with the public, which is a key part of their course.
"They have to learn good social skills if they are to enjoy successful future careers in salons and health spas."
