New GCSE guidance

2:00pm Tuesday 13th May 2008

LEADING UK examining body OCR has announced it will be hosting a free GCSE changes Expo for teachers in London.

From September 2009, revised subject criteria will be launched to conform to the 14-19 educational reforms.

The new exams will affect 3,139 students from Bexley and 2,850 from Greenwich, and it is vital teachers are prepared for the change.

Parool Patel, head of GCSE projects at OCR, said: "OCR estimates almost 100,000 pupils in London will sit the new GCSE exams in the first year of teaching alone and as such it's essential teachers have all the support they require to implement the new syllabus with as little disruption as possible."

The Expo, at Lords Cricket Ground, St Johns Wood, on July 4 will offer sessions on the changes within each subject area, the opportunity to meet subject specialists and publishers.

Teachers will also receive the new specifications on CD, as well as literature on the changes, and be able to discuss any concerns with OCR support officers.

London teachers interested in attending the Expo must pre-register for their free ticket at ocr.org.uk
