Abbeyfest may have come to an end for this year, and culminated in a fantastic Kidsfest on Sunday, but the Colour House Children’s Theatre in Merton Abbey Mills still has plenty lined up to entertain any restless child before school starts again.
Storytelling masters Pick n Myths arrive in Wimbledon from that magnificent train journey from Edinburgh, where they have been wowing the Scottish wee lads and lasses as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. They spin yarns and tell delightful stories based on Greek myths, and they will be at the Colour House until August 31.
In Snakes and Sea Monsters, you will travel with Perseus as he takes on Medusa, who has a nest of hissing snakes for hair, meets tough Andromeda, and helps a sea monster who needs to learn to roar.
Then there is King Midas' Silly Mistakes, in which we meet King Midas, the man who has everything - a big palace, a lovely family, and lots of fun things to play with. But he keeps on bumping into grumpy Gods, and that always leads to trouble, see where the King ends up...
Perhaps you will prefer A-Mazing Adventures. In this tall tale, the King of Crete has the twistiest, turniest maze in the world. Hear about the dim-witted Minotaur who lives there, how Theseus learns how to be brave, and Icarus, the little boy who can fly!
