Leatherhead Theatre's bright future

11:33am Friday 5th September 2008

Leatherhead Theatre is preparing for an exciting new season under the leadership of new artistic director Simon Fielder. Shows include a musical extravaganza Rolling Back the Years (October 14), featuring tributes to Buddy Holly, Frank Sinatra and many more much-loved stars and a concert by the African Children’s Choir (October 1).

In November there is Opera Brava’s version of the CS Lewis children’s classic The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and the year will end with the annual pantomime - this time it is Aladdin and his Wonderful Lamp.

There is also a chance to get involved in the dramatic action - Songtime theatre schools are running a number of workshops for budding young performers and there is also a script writing programme for wannabe Shakespeares.

Throughout October the theatre will also be supporting the Mole Valley Arts Alive Festival. With over 100 events it is one of the biggest arts festivals in the south east of England and the patron of the festival is comedian John Bird of Bremner, Bird and Fortune fame.
