Residents enjoyed a bouncy castle, Tai Chi, and a man in the stocks as part of a day of fun dedicated to Councillor Frances Moseley.

Mrs Molesey, who represented Berrylands ward on Kingston Council, died in December after a long battle with cancer.

The Alpha Road Fun Day featured stalls from as far as Teddington, with games such as ‘guess the sweets’ and ‘splat the rat’, on Alpha Road on Saturday.

Councillor Sushila Abraham said: “It has been very good actually.

"We have had a lot of people enjoying themselves on a family day and meeting other residents.

“We’ve also had many people from so many different places, some from Teddington, and Surbiton library came too.”

Aileen Hill-Smith, resident of Alpha Road, was selling daffodils in memory of Frances Moseley.

Half of the proceeds will go to her memorial, and half to Marie Curie.

Ms Hill-Smith said: “We are hoping to get the tenants to get involved with their estate, just a little bit, in putting a bulb in the ground.”

Laura Whitehead, 30, who runs the local youth group, said: “We have been doing ‘splat the rat’, and guess how many sweets in the jar.

“I work for the church just up the road and I am part of the community group here. It has been really great to meet people and get to know people.”
