Nothing to do this Halloween? Here is a list of some of the ghoulish events going on tonight and over the weekend.

GHOSTLY GOTHS

A night of ghostly Victorian tales will be held in Kingston library. An Evening of Penny Dreadfuls will feature actors dressed in gothic Victorian costumes doing dramatic readings of traditional Halloween tales by candlelight. Costumes are encouraged. The evening starts at 7.30pm tonight, October 31.

CREEPY STREET

Freddy Krueger would feel at home in a Kingston street this Halloween. Nightmare on Brunswick will have comedy and games featuring all kinds of creepy creatures. All donations go to the Great Ormond Street Hospital charity. Visit Brunswick Road from 5.30pm tonight or visit nightmareonbrunswick.com.

HELL RAISING

Expect the likes of Thriller, Ghostbusters and Highway to Hell to get an airing during the Hippodrome’s Halloween party tonight. Spooktacular anthems will be playing in the main room, with commercial, hip-hop and old skool garage playing in the two other rooms. Tickets cost £5 and doors open at 10pm. Visit kingstonhippodrome.co.uk to book.

BLACK HOLE

The Black Lion in Brighton Road, Surbiton, has promised the most haunted pub party this Halloween. Get your fancy dress out for this one because as soon as it hits 7pm on Saturday, November 1, the pub will be transformed into the “black hole of death”. Visit blacklion.co.uk.

QUIRKY QUIZ

Test your knowledge of all things ghoulish as Mill Street residents’ association presents Quiz Macabre on Sunday, November 2. Head along to the Cocoanut pub from 3pm and put your skulls together. Tickets £2 in advance or £3 on the door.

STOMACH CHURNING

If a dish of curried meal worms sounds like a horrific dinner, well, it is Halloween.
Chessington World of Adventures has created a monstrous menu for the weekend, which includes a platter of salt-and-vinegar crispy crickets, a salad with garlic-fried bugs, and creepy-crawly cupcakes – with buttercream icing made from dehydrated ants.
