Two people have been arrested on suspicion of working illegally at businesses in New Malden and Surbiton.
Immigration Enforcement officers raided newsagent Fountain News in Malden Road, New Malden, and curry house Prithi in Ewell Road, Surbiton on Thursday, February 22.
A 29-year-old Sri Lankan man was arrested at Fountain News after it was found he had overstayed his visa, while a 39-year-old Bangladeshi man who had entered the country illegally was arrested in the Surbiton restuarant.
Sarah Burton, head of the West London Home Office Immigration Enforcement team, said: “Illegal working is not victimless.
"It defrauds the taxpayer, undercuts honest employers and means legitimate job hunters are starved of employment opportunities.”
