The company operating a Weybridge pub pleaded guilty to eight food hygiene offences.
Gastro UK ltd, which runs the Alexander in Oatlands Drive were ordered to pay costs of £13,916.66 at Redhill Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, May 19, for the offences found on August 15, and September 25, of last year.
Officers from Elmbridge Council food team carried out a routine food inspection on August 15, and found evidence of a mouse infestation. When officers returned to check they saw matters had not been dealt with.
Councillor Glenn Dearlove, portfolio holder for environment, said: "It is right that the management of the Alexander public house have been held accountable for their failure to comply with important food hygiene legislation.
"However, the subsequent improvement to a food hygiene rating of 5 demonstrates not only how hard they have worked, but also the improvement our food and safety officers can bring about when businesses work with us."
Following a short closure the business improved and was awarded a food hygiene rating of five on March 6.
