A car chased by police along the A3 hit a lamppost after a stinger device was deployed.
Surrey Police tried to stop a car going north on the A3 near Wisley services last night at about 7.15pm.
A stinger was used and the car then hit a lamppost in Ewell Road, Tolworth.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said a 30-year-old man from Hampshire was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, theft of a motor vehicle and driving whilst disqualified.
A 29-year-old woman, with no fixed address, was also arrested on suspicion of aggravated taking of a vehicle without the owners consent.
Both are in police custody while the investigation continues.
