A routine patrol stop found a knife, three torches and one set of gloves in a car.
Two Kingston police officers noticed a car driving slowly in front of them in Hook Road, Surbiton, and decided to stop and speak to the people in it on Friday, September 11.
After the officers found there to be no insurance, the licence of the car was checked and found to be a stolen car reported missing two weeks prior to the date.
A 34-year-old man and a 27-year-old man were arrested on suspicion of theft of the motor vehicle, theft of the number plates, going equipped to steal, possession of an offensive weapon and driving with no licence and no insurance.
Both were bailed until mid-November.
