First-time buyers could have a tough time getting on the housing ladder anywhere, especially in Kingston.
According to Rightmove, the average price of homes sold last year in the borough was £561,899.
But affordable housing developer Pocket Living has launched its first site in the centre of Kingston.
Available to first-time buyers at least 20 per cent below the market rate, starting at £256,000, the 21 homes at Cowleaze Road KT2 are expected to be finished in Spring 2018.
Pocket Living hired Stirling Prize-winning architects Haworth Tompkins to design the homes, which are just a five-minute walk from Kingston station.
Buyers must have a household income below the Mayor of London’s affordable housing threshold.
And the homes will remain affordable, because the next buyer will also need to meet the same criteria.
