A sinkhole has appeared in Surbiton Crescent, and investigations into what caused it are ongoing.
Traffic diversions are in place as Thames Water investigates why the hole appeared, and works out what repairs are required.
Surbiton Crescent has recently undergone work as part of Kingston Council's Go Cycle scheme.
Helen Hinton, who lives nearby, said she spoke to people working on the sinkhole, and they did not think it was to do with the work.
But she said traffic restrictions relating to the Go Cycle scheme - which made £4.5million in their first year - mean buses are now all driven on that side of the road.
Whether or not the buses were the cause of the sinkhole is unclear at this stage.
