A car fire has broken out on Epsom Downs Wednesday afternoon (August 12) amid soaring summer temperatures.
The fire was seen by a pedestrian who reported witnessing "dramatic" scene of what appeared to be a small blue car going up in flames "near the Rubbing House" pub on Epsom Downs around 1pm.
Surrey Police told the Surrey Comet they had not logged any incident in relation to the fire as of 2pm.
The fire broke out just days after a wildfire on Chobham Common caused a major incident after it broke out on Friday, burning over 500 hectares of land, prompting a massive response from fire crews, rescue services and other first responders and leading to the evacuation of nearby residents.
The Met Office previously raised Surrey's fire threat level to "severe" back in May and it remains at that setting presently.
Surrey Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) and The Rubbing House pub were both contacted for comment.
The Jockey Club, who run Epsom Downs Racecourse, were also contacted.
