Kingston College students will be working the catwalk on February 10 to raise money for an Indian orphanage while also celebrating diversity.

“Fashion Forward... A Multi-Cultural Catwalk” will represent Asia, Africa, the Caribbean and Europe, with a vibrant and flamboyant display of clothes, music and dance at the college’s ACT Theatre.

The pupils’ fundraising efforts will go towards the Mission for the Rural People India, which supports children and the elderly in the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh in the south of the country.

Event organiser Lynnette Hope said: “This catwalk will be an experience of the beautiful culture that lives and breathes in our students.

“While all of us are susceptible to hard times, children and the elderly are at the most risk in these countries.

“Our students have travelled to India to help the orphanage and we are keen to continue to make a difference to these people’s lives.”

The show is being sponsored by Surbiton’s Fara charity shop, which supports orphaned and abandoned children in Romania, corset boutique Nikita Sablier and Neelam Sarees, a specialist sari shop in Forest Gate.
