Police are appealing for help to track down two fraudsters who stole £3,240 from an elderly couple’s account.
The victims, from Surbiton, received a telephone call from a man pretending to be from their bank on Thursday, July 23 this year.
He tricked the couple into handing over their bank cards to a courier who emptied their accounts of £3,240 at a Barclays Bank in Kingston.
Detective Constable Dominic Brameld said: “This is a callous act carried out on an elderly couple, duping them into handing over their cards.
“They stole a significant amount of money causing great concern to this couple that should be enjoying their retirement.
“Remember the banks will not ask you for your PIN number over the phone or send a courier to collect your cards.”
Anyone with information should contact Kingston CID on 0208 721 5913 or 101 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
