A 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital after being found collapsed in Surbiton.
Metropolitan Police were first called to outside the Copper Kettle pub in Brighton Road at the junction with Victoria Road just after midnight on Sunday, November 22.
It was first feared that neighbouring estate agent Curchods Surbiton had been broken into as the road by the Surbiton YMCA was taped off by officers until 10am.
London Ambulance attended and the teenager was taken to hospital. He is now in a stable condition.
Madeline Bartley, owner of the Copper Kettle pub, said: “I walked past and just saw a group of lads pushing and shoving each other.
“Apparently one of the lads just stumbled and knocked his head against a tree.”
A Met police spokesman said officers were still investigating the cause of the injury.
No arrests have been made.
