A dozen Surbiton homes just a few streets apart were burgled last night.
Kingston police has warned residents should be on their guard after the unusual spate of thefts.
The burglaries centred around Raeburn Avenue in Surbiton and police are appealing for witnesses.
A Kingston police spokesman said: “We need as much information and intelligence as possible in relation to this burglary series.
“You can be assured that we are currently doing our upmost to detect and prevent further burglaries from taking place.
“This includes plain clothes officers and increased uniform presence in the areas affected.”
Kingston police also published a series of burglary prevention tips, which include making sure garages, shed and side gates are locked and installing a visible burglar alarm.
