Residents were forced to evacuate a flat in Tolworth after a portable heater caught fire.
Firefighters were called to a flat in Grand Parade, in Ewell Road, Tolworth, at 3.44pm on Saturday to a report of a heater catching fire.
The owner of the flat was forced to evacuate after the heater set fire to the carpet and nearby clothes, causing the flat to fill with smoke.
Two fire engines from Kingston were sent to the fire, as well as firefighters from Surbiton and Esher.
