Police officers have been seen searching the Hogsmill river after a man was pulled out earlier today.
Kingston police and London Ambulance both attended the Sunray Estate in Tolworth at about 1pm this afternoon.
A Kingston police spokesman said: “We attended the Hogsmill river in the Knollmead estate at approximately 1pm this afternoon to reports of a person in the river.
“A 21-year-old man was taken to a south London hospital as a precaution, with minor injuries by the London Ambulance Service.
“The investigation into the incident is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this stage.”
Later in the day an eye witness who was taking her daughter to the nearby playground said she saw an empty wheelchair at the edge of the river and some policemen.
She said: “We were going to go and walk towards the Hogsmill but there was a border there.
“They wouldn’t let anybody through. One man was in the water and sieving the sand. Another policeman came and took pictures.”
Police are appealing for anyone who was in the area possibly walking their dog at around 1pm to contact Kingston police on 020 8721 5842 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
