For the fourth successive IYAF year, Tankus the Henge had their audience singing and dancing to their catchy songs and cheerful vibes.
Playing the K-Town Live Market Place stage, as programmed by Our Friends Records, Tankus made their contribution to an ultimate venue for live summer entertainment.
Tankus, featured in The Metro’s Top 10 Acts To See at Glastonbury, consists of Jaz Delorean, Dan Mason, Tim Fulker, Will Stanley and Louis Schultz-Wiremu.
“July is my favourite month,” said frontman Jaz.
“Because there is not a bigger community spirit anywhere than Kingston at this time.
"It’s fantastic to see all these people inspired by what they are doing.”
Tankus have played their music almost all over the world.
"The members of the band just enjoy playing their music, and don’t think they can be pigeonholed into a certain style.
"We don’t write music that fits into one genre. Usually we like to try different things when we write music.” Jaz said.
Bassist Dan added: “We believe that there is something for everyone, and there is a kind of honest and organic feeling to the music.
"Our audience are people who just want to have a good time and have fun.”
Dan also sees the festival as a really clever way for both experienced and inexperienced bands to show their talent and take part in the positive atmosphere.
He added that the only thing he would want to change would be for more investment.
“I think that we need to put more money into the development of the arts, because these types of festivals open up a lot of doors to young and hopeful talents.
"I think it’s great that K-Town Live is a free show, and that’s one of the things that I find so fantastic about this festival.
"But it is also important to develop it further and take strong performances to a bigger stage.”
Tankus the Henge will be playing at the Rose Theatre this Wednesday, July 17 as part of Squeezebox, also featuring electro swing giants The Correspondents.
For a wild party, this night should not be missed.
