Tolworth residents have got their first glimpse of the new greenway.
And they don’t like it – if the Twitter reaction to the green and white stripes replacing the central barriers is anything to go by.
One Twitter user described the colours as reminiscent of “awful sherbet dibdab”.
James Pirrett tweeted: “not a fan & certainly not worth all the traffic chaos”.
But TrippyPip said “I quite like the colours in the middle - not sure if they'll age well however. The pavements are a bit confusing though.”
Gagan Grover, assistant manager at Planet Pizza, said: “We have got very bad weather, so the brighter the better.
“When it is all done it will be good. It makes it more pedestrian-friendly.”
janegravity said the new green path was an improvement over the railings which used to run down the middle of the road.
Minky_monkey told Kingston Council on Twitter: "Makes my eyes dizzy just looking at it! Minging."
And carlton1512 chimed in: "The pavement looks like they have got loads of free samples to try out along the Broadway. Looks a mess."
Work on the Greenway, which has caused traffic congestion since it began in March, is due to finish on September 13.
