An operatic double bill exploring madness and mayhem will take place at the Rose Theatre in Kingston.
On Wednesday, September 10, Helios Chamber Opera Company will be collaborating with the Melos Sinfonia dynamic orchestra.
Façade by William Walton is paired with Eight Songs for a Mad King by Sir Peter Maxwell Davies - who will also be at the Rose to give a pre-concert talk.
Directed by Ella Marchment, who has worked on over 40 productions for companies including The Royal Opera House, the show explores twentieth century musical innovation and what it is to be truly mad.
Eight songs for a Mad King explores the internal torture of an officer so traumatised by his experience in the War that he has assumed a separate identity, George III.
Façade, set in the fictional Esapbury hospital for shell-shocked World War One soldiers, offers a bizarre, yet humorous outlook in which the protagonists imaginatively disguise their wartime turmoil.
Façade and Eight songs for a Mad King, Rose Theatre, High Street, Kingston; Wednesday, September 10, 7:30pm; £9-£19. rosetheatrekingston.org
