A man has been rescued from a flat fire in Surbiton.
Fire crews were called to Alfriston Day Centre in Berrylands Road, at 2.30pm today.
The centre hosts activities for older people in the borough.
A spokesman from London Fire Brigade said firefighters from Kingston wore breathing apparatus and saved the man from a second floor flat above the day centre.
Firefighters had to break in through glass to haul the man out, a firefighter still at the address some four hours later said.

A London Ambulance spokesman said he was taken to hospital as a priority to be treated for smoke inhalation.
A fire crew was still at the centre into the evening
Officers were diverting traffic away from the road, a police spokeswoman said.
