An idea that hatched over a bottle of wine has transformed into a company with a hugely desirable client list.
TV in a Card is the brainchild of Russell Lawley-Gibbs, 45, of Vallings Place, Long Ditton, which merges print and video together. It is catching on, as the world of advertising changes and companies are looking into new and exciting ways to reach people.
Mr Lawley-Gibbs, who attended Tiffin School, Kingston, was working in Dubai for Xerox and trying to work out how to get people to watch the video content he was producing.
He thought: "No one is going to watch this anyway unless I put it in a letter and send it to them and then I thought, ah, maybe that's possible."
So he invented a flat screen LCD video player small enough to be placed in a card, brochure or magazine, launched it in 2010 and now has clients such as Bentley, Richard Branson and the QE2.
The new addition of Rolls Royce means TV in a Card supplies to more than one third of the UK FTSE Top 100 companies.
Mr Lawley-Gibbs said: "With the ability to literally print circuit boards using metal inks comes the further possibility of interactivity, imagine conversing with your own magazine or newspaper. The world of Harry Potter is not that far away."
