Firefighters from Surbiton and Esher were frustrated by residents' poor parking after they were called to a garage fire.

The crews were called to a fire in Ladywood Road, Tolworth, at about 9pm last night, but had to inch through the street lined with parked cars.

The blaze was contained to one half of a detached private garage, Surbiton firefighters said, and the cause is under investigation.

The firefighters urged residents to consider access for larger vehicles when they park.
