Biography: Ed Davey has been Liberal Democrat MP for Kingston & Surbiton since 1997.
He has served in the Liberal Democrat Shadow Cabinet in a number of posts, including Shadow Chief Secretary to the Treasury from 2001 to 2002, Shadow Secretary of State for Education and Skills from 2005 to 2006, and Shadow Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs between 2007 and 2010.
He was Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Employment Relations and Consumer Affairs at the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills from May 2010 to February 2012.
He was appointed Secretary of State for Energy & Climate Change in February 2012, which remains his current role in Government.
He lives in Surbiton with his wife Emily and their two children, John and Ellie.
Hobbies/interests: Spending time with his family; music: He enjoys Coldplay and Gregorian Jazz
He says: For the last 18 years, it has been my privilege to work tirelessly for local people. With their support, we have had real successes.
I led the campaign to save the A&E and maternity units at Kingston Hospital and fought to build new classrooms, ending the 1990’s scandal when Kingston’s primary schools had the largest class sizes.
In Government, Lib Dems have worked to balance the books and rebuild Britain’s economy, while investing in a record increase of apprentices and delivering an £825-a-year tax cut for low and middle income workers.
I want to see continued investment in our NHS – including a walk-in treatment service at Surbiton Health Centre, four new primary schools and the rezoning of Kingston and Surbiton stations, which would get a better deal for local commuters.
All the experts are saying that no one party win this election. I am seriously worried about coalitions of the left and right. A Liberal Democrat MP is your insurance against a "Blukip" lurch to the right or the SNP/Labour diving to the Left.
I will be that insurance and continue to fight for you and your families.
