Thousands of nervous students across Kingston and Elmbridge woke up to find out the results of their A level exams yesterday.
Across the two boroughs, several schools achieved their best results, seeing an increase in stellar grades for their students.
Chessington Community College students were some of the few who achieved the school’s best ever A-level results.
Headteacher Ashraf Ali said: “Over half of the results for students at Chessington were graded A* to B, which is another significant improvement made this year.
“100 per cent of our A-level students achieved passes.
“The work done this year has been second to none both from the teachers and of course our students.
“I am very proud of what our students have achieved and know they will be hugely successful as they move forward to university.”

St George’s College in Weybridge celebrated students receiving A*-A grades increasing by 3 per cent and A*-B by 7.2 per cent on last year’s results.
A2 student Jakob Youngblood Costa will be moving to the USA to accept a place at the prestigious Cornell University in New York where he plans to focus on Engineering.
Mandy Smith, head of sixth form at St George’s, said: “There is immense pressure on young people to achieve today, so we are extremely proud of our students who have met their personal potential and excelled, rising admirably to the demands of the A Level syllabus. They have been a joy to support and they deserve their success.”
Elsewhere, students at Tolworth Girls School and Sixth Form celebrated their high grades on Thursday morning, with several achieving A* grades which they had never expected.
Emma Porteous, 18, received two A*s in History and English Literature and an A in Pyschology and is heading to Southampton to study History and Politics.
She said: “I’m a bit shocked but happy. I didn’t expect to get into uni.”
Sultan Aher, 19, achieved three A grades in History, Sociology and Psychology and ethics, and is heading off to King’s College to study International Relations and Politics.
Fellow pupil Tooba Tahir, who will now go to Liverpool to study medicine, was also in shock at her exam results, saying she woke her parents on Thursday morning when she found out she received an A*, an A and a B.
She said: “I’m really happy, I didn’t think I was going to get in. If I got this far I think I should be ok.”
Four students from Reed’s School in Cobham will join other elated students across Kingston and Elmbridge after their achieved top spots at Cambridge and Oxford.
Surbiton High School saw more than half of their students receive A* and A grades. Twins Ruksana and Safiah Skaukat Jali achieved five A* - A’s between them and will move on to study Design Engineering at Imperial College and Biomedicine Science at St George’s respectively.
Tiffin Girls’ School also celebrated 35 per cent of their students receiving A* grades.
Headteacher Ian Keary said: “Our 2016 leavers are a wonderful group of girls and they fully deserve the truly outstanding A Level results they have achieved this summer.
“These results are not only a testament to the hard work of the girls, but also the tireless efforts of our staff and hugely supportive parents.
“These wonderful outcomes will enable them to pursue their chosen pathways into higher education, and we wish them all a happy and successful future.”
