Pupils at a Surbiton school were treated to a visit from gold-medallist and paralympic swimmer Hannah Russell MBE.
Year 7 and 8 boys at Shrewsbury House School learnt about the challenges Ms Russell, who is visually-impaired, has had to face in pool and the types of training she has to undergo.
She explained to the boys that in her daily routine as a full-time athlete she will be training for six to seven hours a day.
Ms Russell also shed light on her daily challenges, including catching the correct bus to go training or meeting new people or speaking to an audience.
A Shrewsbury House spokesman said of the visit on January 27: "The boys were incredibly engaged and asked lots of further questions to understand more about what it is like to be a professional athlete and also visually impaired.
"At the end they were able see and hold some of Hannah's Paralympic medals. Overall we enjoyed a fantastic and incredibly inspirational hour in the company of Hannah and her father Carson.
"As Hannah said to the boys when discussing their own hopes and aspirations, 'if you believe, you can achieve.'"
