The best and worst GP surgeries in Kingston, as voted by patients, have been revealed.
The annual GP Patient Survey asks residents about their opinions of practices and measures their views on things like the ease of making appointments, waiting times, the quality of care given, opening times and out-of-hours services.
More than 2,400 people took part in the survey in Kingston.
St Albans Medical Centre in Richmond Road and Fairhill Medical Practice in Kingston Hill came out on top of the pile with 92 per cent of patients saying the practice was good.
St Albans’ practice manager Milena Bodda told Surrey Comet: “We are pleased to see the sustained satisfaction in accessing our GP services, especially in regard to patients getting through on the phone and being able to speak to and see a clinician.”
The Orchard Practice in Orchard Gardens, Chessington, has the lowest satisfaction ratings.
Ten of the survey’s 23 GP surgeries in the borough were on a par with or better than the UK average of 85 per cent.
St Albans was by far the highest rated for patients being able to get through on the phone, with 93 per cent saying it was easy to get through. Orchard Practice was again last with just thirty per cent.
The survey also found St Albans had the most helpful receptionists.
Sunray Surgery in Warren Drive, Surbiton, and Brunswick Surgery in Ewell Road, Surbiton, were the easiest to get appointments.
And it seems Kingston’s patients find it a little trickier to get appointments than elsewhere in the country – 63 per cent of respondents said it was ‘easy’ to get an appointment, compared to 68 per cent nationally, and 33 per cent of Kingstonians said it was ‘not easy’, compared to 28 per cent nationally.
A total of 95 per cent said they had confidence in their GP, which is in line with the national average, and 83 per cent said their overall experience was good.
