A moped-riding vandal smashed the windows of a Kingston headteacher's car right outside the school.
The car belonged to Latchmere School's Julie Ritchie, and it was smashed opposite the school gates at about 4.30pm on Tuesday, June 20.
Nobody was hurt, but staff were shaken.
A letter to parents from chair of trustees Ed Pritchard read: "As you can appreciate this is a shocking incident in our normally happy and friendly community.
"The whole school staff are shocked by the act of vandalism, and I extend my thanks to all the staff who attended the scene to make the area safe.
"In difficult circumstances, both the teaching and support staff pulled together in a way that showed the very best of Latchmere."
Mr Pritchard went on to assure parents the school remains a safe place, and to ask anyone who saw anything to contact the school to help the police investigation.
