Police say they arrested a 14 year-old boy in Hinchley Wood after an 11-inch long kitchen knife was found tucked into his waistband.
In a post on Facebook, the police account ‘Elmbridge Beat (Surrey Police)’ shared a photo of the blade with details of the incident.
According to the post, Police attended on Sunday, January 6 after receiving a tip off from a member of the public who had witnessed a young man in possession of the blade.
The teen was said to have been showing it to a group of people, and officers identified the suspect after “a short foot chase”.
Surrey Police said officers remained on site “to provide reassurance and the informant was updated and thanked”.
The case has been referred to the Central Youth Intervention Team.
