There are plans to turn the former BBC sports ground in Motspur Park into a graveyard.
Developer Barkisland Developments Ltd has written to residents near the 21-acre site saying it intends to submit a planning application to Kingston Council to change it to a graveyard.
Barkisland has organised a public exhibition prior to a council consultation to allow residents to view the plans and put questions directly to the project team.
The exhibition will be held from 4pm to 9pm on Monday at the Venner Youth and Community Centre in Manor Drive, Worcester Park.
In April 2005, the site was bought by Irish Dunnes store millionaire Ben Dunne for £3million. He hoped to build a leisure and fitness centre there, but strong public feeling against it meant no official application was made.
As planning regulations now require the metropolitan land to remain as a green space a cemetery is one of the few options left for the developers.
St James ward councillor Mary Clark said she believed the site would also house a crematorium, although the developer was unable to confirm this.
