Long traffic delays were reported after Kingston Bridge was closed Monday afternoon (June 10) due to flooding.
Road users reported long delays and associated travel disruption after the authorities in Kingston were forced to close the bridge following heavy rain in the area on Monday.
Kingston Council (RBK) reported the news via Twitter, suggesting that the iconic bridge over the Thames river was closed due to flooding at a nearby junction between Kingsgate Road and Wood Street.
"TRAFFIC: Kingston Bridge is closed coming into Kingston due to flooding in the underpass at the Kingsgate Road junction with Wood Street. #A308," a spokesperson for RBK said on Twitter.

As the Surrey Comet reported Monday, the Met Office weather service issued an Amber warning for most of South East England as a result of the adverse weather conditions — the second-highest warning possible — and predicted heavy rain and flooding of homes and businesses was "likely".
"If you have any journeys planned, if you're commuting home, do expect some disruption, cancellations and delays on public transport, and try and make plans around that whether its leaving work earlier or later depending on the weather warning.
Advising road users to be vigilant for the risks of flooding, Bonnie Diamond, a Meteorologist at the Met Office told the Surrey Comet: "If you have any journeys planned, if you're commuting home, do expect some disruption, cancellations and delays on public transport, and try and make plans around that whether its leaving work earlier or later depending on the weather warning."
