Some of Britain's top water skiers and wakeboarders hail from Surrey and are representing their home county and country at a renowned masters event in Australia today (March 6).
The world-famous Moomba Masters takes place in Melbourne, Australia, over the next few days with only the world's best invited to take part.
Among the competitors are two Surrey men who rank among the best in their sports nationwide.
Freddie Winter, who was born in Tooting and studied at the University of London’s Royal Holloway College in Egham, Surrey, is currently top of the world's water skiing slalom world rankings and a former world champion.
Freddie won silver and fellow Team GB teammate Will Asher — also competing in Melbourne — won bronze at the most recent World Championships in Malaysia in August 2019.
Joining them will be Weybridge's 18-year-old wakeboarding sensation Luca Kidd.
Luca is a two-time Junior World Wakeboard Champion and just missed the podium, finishing 4th, at the inaugural World Beach Games in Qatar, last October.
He trains in the UK at LDB Wake School at Thorpe Park, Surrey, as well as in Florida and Majorca.
The Moomba Masters is taking place from March 4-9.
The British athletes will be in action on the water starting today.
