Re your article (Page 8, WBN, October 24) Sorry to throw a spanner in the works, but this endless hype about sex "offenders" is completely over the top!
To many, who have to have someone to hate and vilify, this means so-called "paedophiles" - now the most misused and abused word in the English language.
One is now classed a "sex offender" who has had no physical contact, but merely because of what one has on one's own computer. Even for what one thinks!
We are now on a par with the McCarthy witch-hunt era and the Communist purges.
Most cases these days are "mutuus consensus" anyway, being "amused" (not abused), but the vote-seeking Government control freaks have introduced a plethora of new draconian laws to pander to the egotistic "child" protection fanatics seeking accolades and brownie points, which is directly responsible for today's out of control kids who have no respect for anyone or anything.
Gangs aged from nine years old are terrorising whole estates - recently a gang of five, with the eldest aged 12, stoned a man to death. I could list many more but know it is a waste of time.
They now refer to 17-year-olds as "children". They even made consenting underage sex rape to appeal to prejudices.
The police now have numerous armies of "specialist" units, squads, departments etc, just for underage sex - manned no doubt by those who couldn't catch a cold, much less a thug, mugger or terrorist.
This is the only "crime" where they are guaranteed a conviction carrying a lengthy prison sentence - they can meet their "targets" and with no criticism. This obsession with sex costs billions of pounds. Just one sex witch-hunt I recall cost £15million... while the Army is starved of equipment.
The so-called and much vaunted "harm to victims" is of course the excuse given out by Government spin-merchants, but a report many years ago by a very high-powered medico-legal committee found that most if not all of the "harm" was NOT by the sex activities but by the ensuing (costly) court cases and the attitudes of all those concerned - the legal system, friends, family and especially interrogators.
