I bought two poppies from sellers in the street.

On each occasion I was asked if I wanted a pin and when I said "Yes" I was given one with the words "As you are having a pin I must tell you it can hurt you".

When I tried to make a joke of it I was told "that is what we have to say".

Do the flag sellers not think it is ironic that they are selling poppies for those killed and injured in battle and yet have to warn the buyers to take care lest they hurt themselves on a pin?
