SIR. I read your article concerning Sadiq Khan's verdict on MRSA and C Difficile fatalities since November 2004 at St George's Hospital.
Their claim that an average of three fatalities per month were because of C Difficile, totally lacks credulity.
Please let us have the real figures - not what meets Government targets.
We all need to believe in St George's as our local hospital, but this problem will never be tackled properly - with adequate resources - unless there is more transparency as Ian Hart, the chairman of the committee has requested.
Let us know the total number of patients diagnosed with these diseases.
I do speak from experience - my dear Mother died a year ago this week. The ward doctor told me she had C Difficile. This did not appear on her death certificate, but it was a contributory factor.
As a Government representative, it appears Sadiq Khan can be accused of political posturing and not Wandsworth Council health and overview committee, who appear to be seeking the truth.
I won't even mention mixed wards.
