I was enlightened to read the article "Villers row makes a heap of problems for recyclers" (November 21) as it convinced me that I was not the only one who think the concept is ill-thought out.
Although I come under Kingston, the Epsom and Ewell recycling facility is closer to the Chessington/ Ewell border. The journey is easier than attempting the traffic calming measures which add to the amount of time my vehicle pollutes the air.
If Kingston Council also collected telephone books and cardboard there would be less reason to recycle the items independently.
Pollution is a national concern and if the Government wants to encourage people to do more then we should be allowed to go the nearest recycling point. If Kingston Council at a future date tried to emulate the congestion charge in Kingston, maybe even more reason to avoid going to Villiers if it meant passing through a congestion zone!
