I was very pleased to see the coverage in the Wandsworth Borough News of the Green Guardian Awards ceremony. How fantastic to see Wandsworth people and businesses winning further awards at this year's ceremony, which I was delighted to attend.
Maud Gambier-Ellis and Food Up Front deserved their awards for Green Household and Green Project, and Ben Stephens Hemingway deserved his commendation as Young Environmentalist.
It was an inspiration to meet all of them, and the other Wandsworth finalists, as well as all the committed environmental activists from Richmond, Sutton, Kingston, Croydon and Merton.
However, I can't help contrasting this with the lack of support for the Green Guardian Awards process and ceremony from Wandsworth Council this year - unlike all the other councils in south-west London, for some reason Wandsworth snubbed both the participants and the awards.
I hope that next year Wandsworth sees sense, and stops ignoring this very worthwhile event and all those who participate - surely encouraging environmental awareness comes before petty political posturing?
