I want to say how much I enjoyed June Sampson's article on Surbiton Lagoon last week.
It brought back so many happy memories of my teenage years. In the summer months, it was a meeting place for myself and friends, probably two or three times a week.
I think that many of us met our first teenage loves there. We would spend most of the day, with a picnic and the usual flask of tea.
We would, at the end of the afternoon, emerge from the pool with skin like wrinkled prunes!
You mentioned the film The Blue Lagoon with Brooke Shields. Actually that was a remake of the 1949 version starring Jean Simmons.
In fact, this was also a remake of the original film produced in 1923, just after the novel was written.
Thanks for the memories, June.
