You printed an email and a letter last week regarding Kingston Council's cavalier attitude towards the use of the Villiers Road amenity site.
I entirely agree with these readers. I wrote to the council after receiving our "permit" to point out the same issues.
We live on the borders of the borough in Malden Rushett, this entails a 10-mile round trip to dispose of unwanted items and garden refuse etc, where previously we used the nearest amenity site.
The director of environmental services seems not to care about the long trips by car involved, only in saving money.
Whatever happened to saving the planet? How can this be a green, liberal council?
They should remember that the council taxpayers fund these services, and we must be listened to.
We hope that the Surrey Comet will highlight these issues in future weeks and possibly encourage more people to protest.
Of course we can all make our feelings known when we vote for our local council next time.
