A woman pedestrian has sadly died after she was struck and fatally injured by a car in Chertsey this morning (Tuesday, March 9).
Road closures in both directions remain in place at the scene of the crash on Chertsey Lane, Chertsey, as emergency service workers continue to respond to the incident.
Police are meanwhile appealing to the public for information about what happened.
In a statement posted this morning announcing the fatality, a spokesperson for Surrey Police said:
"A female pedestrian has sadly died following a collision with a car in Chertsey this morning (9 March).
"The collision, involving the woman and a black Audi A4, occurred in Chertsey Lane around 8.50am.
"Paramedics treated the female pedestrian, who was in her 70s, but unfortunately she was pronounced dead shortly after the incident.
"The driver of the car was not injured."

Surrey Police's Runnymede section, who are working at the incident, urged Twitter users to direct message their account with any information.
The county force's main website published further details of how any witnesses could assist with the investigation, which is being referred to under the reference number PR/P21048926.
