A teenager was arrested in Sunbury after he racially abused and assaulted police officers in the early hours of Saturday (June 26).
The incident happened on Green Street in Sunbury on Saturday morning, and reportedly stemmed from a "large disturbance" that police said involved "youths with weapons in the vicinity of Green Street".
A spokesperson for Surrey Police, whose officers were involved, described what happened when they arrived at the scene:
"A 16-year-old boy was asked to leave the scene but refused to do so. While he was being arrested, he shouted profanities at the officers and was arrested for public order.
"He also assaulted three officers by kicking them during his arrest. Fortunately none of them sustained any serious injuries as a result.
"The suspect then continued to be abusive towards officers during the journey to custody and made abusive remarks towards two of the officers in relation to their ethnicity."

The 16-year-old was subsequently arrested for on suspicion of assaulting the three officers and racially aggravated public order.
Spelthorne Borough Commander Inspector Maxine Cilia said:
"Assaults and abuse towards our officers during the course of their duty will simply not be tolerated and we will always take a robust approach who thinks they can behave in this manner and get away with it.
"We are continuing to target anti-social behaviour in the Sunbury Cross area and have been working closely with partners on a problem-solving approach to the issue."
