A man suffered serious injuries after he was stabbed in Caterham on Friday (July 9).
Surrey Police, who are appealing for witnesses, said the stabbing happened "towards the northern end of Stafford Road in Caterham around 2.20pm on Friday afternoon.
Eye-witnesses reportedly saw three men "all dressed in dark clothing" running across gardens towards the Stafford Road Recreation Ground, and then on towards the railway line.
They are believed to have eventually headed in the direction of the 'Ann Summers' roundabout afterwards.
"Police, including armed officers, dog units and the police helicopter, immediately flooded the area to search for the people responsible," a police statement on the stabbing read.
"Currently a suspected weapon has been seized, but no arrests have been made," it continued.
The victim of the stabbing was taken to hospital where his injuries described as "serious, but not life threatening".
Police said the attack is "believed to have been targeted" and therefore that they did not think there was any wider risk to the public from the suspects.
