A man has died in a crash with a skip lorry in Epsom this morning (Thursday, August 5).
The crash occurred early on Thursday morning, around 5.45am when the police were called to the seen.
They and paramedics attended but despite their best efforts the man, thought to be aged 40, was declared dead at the scene.
A spokesperson for Surrey Police said they were now appealing for witnesses in a short statement released after the fatality:
"We are appealing for witnesses after a man was fatally injured in a single vehicle collision in Epsom earlier this morning (5 August).
"Officers were called to reports of a collision between a skip lorry and a pedestrian on Reigate Road at around 5.45am.
"Despite best efforts of paramedics, a 40-year-old man was sadly declared deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers. Our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time."
Reigate Road currently remains closed at College Road, Fir Tree Road and Ruden Way.
