There was shock and grievance in Surrey on Friday after two fatal crashes struck in the north and east of the county on Thursday (August 5).
Two pedestrians, one man and one woman, sadly died after separate crashes in Epsom and Salfords, near Reigate, within hours of each other on Thursday morning (August 5).
The first happened on Reigate Road in Epsom at around 5.45am, when emergency first responders were called to the scene.
A man, aged 40, was sadly pronounced dead at the scene despite the best efforts of the attending paramedics.
Police said his next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers.
"Our thoughts remain with them at this difficult time," a spokesperson for Surrey Police said.
The incident was described as a "single vehicle collision...between a skip lorry and a pedestrian" by police, who are now investigating and appealing for witnesses.
Just hours later, in Salfords near Reigate, a second fatal crash happened on Brighton Road involving an ambulance at 9.20am.
A 40-year-old woman was treated by paramedics but was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
The R&B team would like to thank everyone for being so understanding whilst they dealt with the road closure and incident yesterday in Salfords. They appreciated the tea & biscuits and these lovely pictures which are now in our office for all the officers to see. #ActOfKindness pic.twitter.com/zw4alqSbJq
